“Never Forget”
Cedar City wanted a monument honoring those of Iron County and even nation wide who served in the “Forgotten War”, the Korean War! The committee wanted a work that reflected the cold reality of war, the great sacrifice of life that is asked and freely given by those hero’s who serve. Thus the towering figure has the heavy coat that so characterized a freezing cold Korean winter that soldier after soldier will never forget.

The saddened hero looks down at his best friends helmet, saluting all that is left of him in this terrible fight for freedom. His solute is not only to honor his lost companion but to signify to everyone present, You Will NOT BE FORGOTTEN! Sadly so many of them are forgotten, even entire wars!

I hope this sculpture reminds people that though men may forget God will not and those who sacrifice for freedom’s sake will have Glory added onto their heads for all eternity!
